Welcome to the website of South East and West of Scotland Local Supervising Authorities.
The South East & West Region Local Supervising Authorities represents NHS Borders, Fife, Forth Valley, Lothian, Ayrshire & Arran, Dumfries & Galloway, Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Lanarkshire. The region has the statutory responsibility for the Local Supervising Authority for Midwives practising within each of the Health Board Areas.
The Local Supervising Authority Midwifery Officer (LSAMO) is professionally accountable to the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC). The Midwives Rules and Standards (NMC2004) www.nmc-uk.org govern the framework in which midwives and Supervisors of Midwives (SOM) meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Order 2001.
